People think Bajre Dara is interesting because it gives a clear view of Mount Kanchenjunga all the way to the top of it.

In Nepali, Bajre refers to an area where thunder regularly erupts, whereas Dara refers to a ridge. Today, hikers will come upon the remains of thunder-damaged dead tree trunks.

There are several legends around this name.Some say a thunderbolt wiped out all the vegetation in the area. Others say the locals burned the vegetation to protect their land from outsiders. If we look into the history of this trek, you will find it interesting.

The ridge, which rises at an elevation of 11,000 feet, provides a welcome break from the monotony of city life. The walk begins at Melliaching, a little hamlet 17 kilometres outside of Pelling. From here, take the Pangreytar and Gorujurey trails to Bhanjyang. Camping in Bhanjyang will allow you to experience nature in its purest form.

The next day, trek to Bajre Dara, the route's cardinal point. Here's where you'll have the most fun on your adventure. The panoramic route is truly life-changing and a sight to see.

Descend to Pangreytar through Gorujurey the next day, then hike back to Melliaching the next day. Return to NJP/Bagdogra or Pelling from this point. Prepare for a breathtaking and life-changing hiking adventure.

Itinerary

Day 1 (Reach Baghdogra airport (IXB) or Newjalpaiguri Railway station and drive to Melliaching via Melli check post, Pelling, distance like 150km 7 hours to reach Destination)

Make sure you arrive on time at the NJP/Bagdogra railway station. You may recognise one of our company experts like a guide or driver. After reaching, meet our company representative, and he/she will brief you on further plans. It will take you around 7 hours to drive via Pelling and Darap to Melliaching. As you begin your journey, everything is new and thrilling. On this journey, you'll witness the most beautiful valleys and mountains, as well as bamboo forests and cardamom orchards. It is vital that you acquire sufficient amounts of fresh air. Relax and take in the fresh air as you wander through the mysterious mountains. Spend the night in a tent.

Day 2 (Melli gompa or Pangrey tar to Bhanjyang 8km approx via Goru-jurey Elevation 2200M)

Today is the first day of your adventure. After breakfast, begin your trek from Melliaching Gompa to Bhanjyang. The hike is around ten kilometres in length and takes approximately 5-6 hours to finish. We'll tour the mediaeval monasteries of Pangreytar and Gorujurey. As a consequence, it's self-evident that this experience is about more than natural splendour; it's also about religious tranquillity. If you come early enough, you may catch the last rays of a magnificent sunset. Spend the night in Bhanjyang base camp, which is surrounded by spectacular mountain scenery and ideal weather.

Day 3 (Bhanjyang to Bagre Dara 3355M 8-9km approx.)

Today is the happiest day of your life, and it represents the culmination of all you've done so far. Today is the first day of your trip to Bajre Dara. The trek will take you through one of the most magnificent and romantic environments on the planet, with views of snow-capped mountains, tropical rainforests, rhododendrons, and wildlife such as barking deer. Take advantage of the chance to glimpse the apparently infinite ridge of Mt. Kanchenjunga. Take lots of shots while you're here to remember your visit. For the night, pitch a tent and stay the night in it.

Day 4 (Bajre to Khechoperi lake via Bhanjyang, Lamathang 14-15km 1850meter,)

You should get up early today in order to get a glimpse of the sunrise. At any dawn on a mountain, you should not miss this breathtaking spectacle. After all, spend a few minutes to admire the surroundings and prepare for breakfast before continuing on. Bhanjyang and Lamathang villages will be visited on the way to Khechoperi Lake.
